Presentations

Ali Wood, Author/Researcher: What is Reflective Practice?
Through the keynote we will be exploring what reflective practice is and how we can more meaningfully do it. It will be participative and thought-provoking and revisit our day to day playwork with children.

Henry Mathias, Care Inspectorate: Scotland’s New Heath and Social Care Standards
Henry Mathias, who has led the development of the new Standards, will explore what they mean for a child’s rights to play and how they will be used by the Care Inspectorate to improve children’s experiences.

Workshops

Delegates will take part in three workshops from a choice of seven, including on gender and play and drawing outdoors with children. Spaces are granted on a first come, first served basis, so book soon to ensure you get your first choices.

Conference history

Play Midlothian has to date delivered eight successful play conferences in Midlothian – the last in November 2016. The Nature of Play had 100 delegates. The event featured a presentation from Dr Suzanne Zeedyk on What play does to a child’s brain and a range of practical workshops full of inspiration on children’s play.
