Welcome to the bit of the website that is about information on play for parents.
You can find out about places for your children to play in Midlothian – both staffed provision and public spaces. Keep checking in to find updated news on Playday, which takes place every year in August, as there will be fun opportunities for your children to take part in.
Also, the ‘play ideas’ page will be updated regularly with suggestions of how you can support your children to play, or sources of further information on play to check out. Maybe some of the ideas will take you back to your own memories of playing (on the street, in the park, on the beach, in the woods, at your friend’s house…? Building dens, playing house, climbing a tree, having a water fight…?) and in those memories you can be sure to find another 100 things your children would like to do too!
It’s all about helping you to help your children get the most out of play – and play is essential to the health, development and happiness of children. If you are interested in further information on play and the benefits of play, you can find out more about theory/research in the section for professionals.
