Play Midlothian works to improve and increase children’s opportunity to play, because we know how important play is for their health, wellbeing and development. It is important for their lives in the here and now as well as for their future life chances. Play Midlothian has been providing services since 1996 and is a Registered Charity (no SC025474) and Company Limited by Guarantee (no SC240729).

We provide both services for children (including holiday playschemes) and for other groups working with children (including training, an annual conference and practical support). Members of the organisation can access additional benefits. Have a look round the website for more information about our projects and if you’d like to find out more, please do not hesitate to get in touch. We’d also love to hear from people and groups that are also working on children’s play projects – we might be able to work with you.

Play accolades for Play Midlothian

Play Midlothian was delighted to receive two accolades in 2011, awarded under the organisation’s former name of Midlothian Association of Play.

  • The Right to Play Award, distributed by the International Play Association (IPA), an international organisation working to protect and promote children’s right to play worldwide.
  • A Nancy Ovens Play Awards commendation, highlighting ‘…the Free2Play project for its promotion and support of the need to recognise and provide enriching play opportunities no matter where children play, and for their provision of innovative holiday playschemes in communities throughout Midlothian.’
